Out-of-hours telephone counselling – Up to 6 sessions
Pro-counselling offers to King’s College students out-of-hours access to telephone counselling.
You can use this out-of-hours telephone counselling service if you are experiencing a low to moderate issue (CORE-10 score 25 or below).

Our therapists provide short-term (up to 6 sessions), solution-focused counselling support for low to moderate issues to offer you immediate advice or to guide you towards a solution.
Counselling support can be accessed from 5 pm to 9 am during weekdays, 24 hours on weekends and 24 hours on King’s College closure days.
Please, refrain from using this service if:
- You are in crisis and you need the urgent intervention of the emergency services.
- Your CORE-10 score is above 25.
- You are already engaging or awaiting for an appointment with King’s College CMHS.
- You believe the advice or short-term counselling support of a therapist would not help.

This is a confidential service , but you will be required to provide your student ID number when accessing our service. If you are at risk to self or harm to others we may need to extend confidentially and share this information with other relevant King’s Student Services. We will always aim to seek your consent, but there may be some circumstances where this will not be possible.
Pro-Counselling’s affiliate therapists are all UK-based, fully trained, and qualified to British standards. They are registered members or accredited members of the BACP and/or UKCP.
How it works
- Go to the online portal here.
- Choose a therapist currently online and make a note of their 4-digit code.
- Please, have your King’s College student number ready.
- Call the Freephone number, you will be asked for your student number and the 4-digit code of the therapist chosen.
- The therapist will answer the phone.
If you do not have access to the internet, call the Freephone number and press * when prompted to be connected with one of the therapists available.
Accessing out-of-hours telephone counselling outside the UK
If you are not in the UK, you will not be able to call the UK Freephone number. However, you can still access the telephone counselling platform by calling +44 (0) 208 138 9107 (UK national rate). However, to access out-of-hours** counselling support without communication charges, you can request an out-of-hours** online counselling appointment here.

Please, fill in the form below and a therapist will get in touch with you shortly to arrange a session at a convenient date and time (out-of-hours only). The online counselling sessions are usually delivered via Zoom, but please, notify us or the therapist if you prefer to use another platform.
